This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change. Online Platforms Reaction Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Stories A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
